Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the executor and consummator of the Godhead: This person of the Holy Trinity is also called “the Comforter” by Jesus Christ. He is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent. The human body is His temple but He must be invited to indwell in us.
He can be resisted (Acts 7:51); grieved (Ephesians 4:30); quenched (1 Thessalonians 5:19). He can depart from us (1 Samuel 16:14); and can be sinned against (Matthew 12: 31, 32)
God is the source of all power and all things. Jesus is the Word, the Wisdom, and the power of God and the only way to Him.
The Holy Spirit is to lead a child of God into all truth. He shows how the Holy Word applies to our daily lives. He makes Jesus a living and breathing reality every minute and hour of the day. Without the Holy Spirit, one cannot accomplish God’s eternal purpose for his life. Jesus is the Father’s right hand, waiting to shed forth His extraordinary gift for His bride, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit for the power, love, and boldness to accomplish the Father’s will.
The Holy Spirit is powerful:
Creates comforts, renews, gives joy, convicts us of sin, gives discernment, baptizes us, bears fruit, guides us, anoints us, empowers us for life, teaches us, sanctifies us for the Father, makes intercession for us, bears witness for us, reveals to us things of God, and illuminate our minds.
The Gift of the Holy Spirit has a fourfold purpose:
- The control of the whole person, the Holy Spirit controls the tongue to the extent of using it to speak an unlearned language, certainly indicates complete surrender. Jesus did not speak in tongue at His baptism because He is the author of languages, and His tongue was never unruly, and He spoke the truth.
- The Holy Spirit for a sign (1 Corinthians 14:22) multitudes came to hear the preaching of the gospel, for they listened to the language of tongues.
- The Holy Spirit speaks to God, and it is not mentioned that they all spoke in known tongues or that they spoke in tongues all of the time or just when the crowd gathered. There is no way that speaking unto God can be wrong, evil, or from the devil! Jesus is the Baptizer; speaking in tongues was His choice, not man’s, and to reject or despise this is to reject and despise Jesus Christ’s gift for His bride. The Holy Spirit used the human mouth to speak during the Old Testament period in the Language of God, speaking as a spirit in the individual speaking to God. He is the author of Language, not the Devil. He gave Adam a language; He separated the people at Babel; at Pentecost, He united the people again with tongues. He will provide every inhabitant of heaven with a new language that all will speak and understand immediately.
- The Holy Spirit is edification. God’s child is surrounded by sin, sinners, temptations, trials, and the fiery darts of the adversary; this is one reason why we need the Holy Spirit to protect us. With the Holy Spirit’s help, the human body and mind should be able to withstand. Paul said, “I then, my God, I speak with tongues more than you all, “and he withstood the most persecution (2 Corinthians 12:10)
Prayer
Father, I accept Your Word and purpose, the will of God within my inner self, without rejection of the Holy Scriptures. I pray to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit, which is the promise to me, my children, and them that are far away and as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Him. In Jesus’ Name AMEN
