To bind the strong man; You must first know who the strongman is. It can be a principality, power, ruler of darkness in this world, or spiritual wickedness in high places Eph. 6:12. This is discerned through prayer and must always be within the will and timing of God. Many times fasting must accompany that prayer. When the man asked Jesus why His disciples could not cast the demon out of his son, He replied, “But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Matt 17:14-21.

Every believer has the right and authority to call down or resist the devil and bind the strong man. You, as an individual, will be singled out and challenged by the spirits of darkness. Or you will be called into war against the powers over your home, Church, city, etc. Binding and loosing demonic spirits or powers of higher-level spiritual dominion is definitely something you do not want to do without knowing what you are doing. When God is silent, keep waiting in faith and do not allow the enemy to cause you to succumb to unbelief Focus on God’s faithfulness and other positive attributes while you are waiting. God’s people needn’t think that listening to Him is something difficult or only for the very “spiritual” or “mature.” Even in the early months of infancy, a child learns to recognize the voice of the one who cares for it. The more time you spend with the Lord in total trust, just like a child, the more clearly you will recognize His voice. The ability to communicate increases with maturity. You need to make time to listen to the King of kings, concentrating on what He is saying. Jesus gave you His word that His sheep will hear His voice. You are one of His sheep, and as long as you are part of the fold, you WILL hear His voice: He who is of God hears the words of God.

Father, I come before Your throne with a heavy heart because those have offended me, and I have unforgiveness. I know unforgiveness is contrary to Your Word. Because of this, I have been tormented in my mind and emotions by these offenses. This has created an abiding tie between me and those.
Therefore, I ask, instead, that You forgive my sins. And I also forgive those people as You have forgiven me. I repent and let go of bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, slander, hatred, and malice. I receive my forgiveness in Jesus’s name and by His precious blood.
