Shame

Shame is feelings of guilt; shame is the subjective acknowledgment of objective spiritual reality and is a consequence of sin.

Those ashamed of him now will find Christ ashamed of them on the Day of Judgment.

“A divided house cannot stand,” our Lord said. Considering this, only God can save us now from the storm to come.

You probably can dull your sense of shame in many ways, but when it happens, you grieve the Holy Spirit. “The Spirit of the Lord will not always strive with men.”  “He who is often reproved yet stiffens his neck will suddenly be broken beyond healing.”

It is written, “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree:” (Galatians 3:13). Hanging as a cursed man on the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ endured all the shame for the salvation of your soul. The Bible says in Isaiah 50:6, “I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.” The Lord Jesus was “despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:” (Isaiah 53:3,5,7). This shame, this reproach, affliction, sorrow, grief, rejection, oppression, chastisement, and bruising, the Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ, took willingly and joyfully that you and I might be saved from hell. It was the price that we had to pay because of our sins; but the Creator took our place on the cross, so that we might have life through Him.

If we allow God’s word to guide and control what we believe and how we live, there will be no need for shame (Galatians 2:14). We must not be ashamed, though, of Jesus’ words (Mark 8:38). We must embrace the word in our hearts this will allow shame to be overruled by love.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, I repent for being ashamed of You in front of my friends and sometimes in public. I Love You, but I just kept quiet around certain people. Help me O Lord, to be strong and bold for You in Jesus’ name AMEN.
